The Good Soil Story
For the past fourteen years Good Soil Partners has provided scholarships all across Malawi for young men and women to attend secondary schools and universities Good Soil has also provided entrepreneurship and leadership training to hundreds of youth. And hundreds of Good Soil Scholars have successfully graduated from secondary school and gone on to higher education and careers. Today many Good Soil Scholars are on promising career paths in academic institutions, the government, medical fields, and service professions.
Over the years it has become evident to the leadership at Good Soil Partners that in order for young men and women to become God's next generation of transformational leaders, they need more than academic excellence. Today's young Malawians also need to be focused on Christ, intensively equipped with leadership training, entrepreneurship training and practical skills in a manner which will inspire them to live out the values of Good Soil to honor God by loving God, living generous lives, adding value to others and always doing the right thing.
Two years ago we embarked on an in-depth study as to how best we could create transformational, world-changing leaders, and the simple answer was that we needed more time to equip the youth of Malawi. Out of that process the idea of Good Soil Academy was born. While Good Soil Academy is starting with young women, the long-term goal is that there will be a Good Soil Academy for young men as well. Simply put, Good Soil Academy is an idea that has been 14 years in the making.
Because we focus on entrepreneurship and equipping others, sustainability is a high priority for Good Soil Academy. Good Soil Academy lends a hand, but not a hand out. While Good Soil Academy offers some scholarships, and intends to grow a scholarship endowment fund, it is primarily supported by tuition-paying families who desire that their daughter receive a Christian education of excellence where they become trained leaders, entrepreneurs, and skilled for both today and tomorrow.
